Heritage Bakery & Cafe has been a fixture of the Harrisonburg community for years. This cozy spot nestled in the city’s visitor center is one of the first places you’ll see on your journey downtown. This vibrant local business has an overflowing pastry case, special orders, baking classes and more.
As long time fans and web partners with Heritage Bakery & Cafe, we were stoked to once again work with this true Friendly City gem. After designing their first site back in 2015, a lot has changed for the bakery and it was time for a complete site redesign.
James and his team helped create the perfect website for our bakery! It’s colorful, playful and fun. Exactly what we wanted…I highly recommend this small business! And I’ll never use anyone else 🙂
Updated Branding
Since their initial site, Heritage Bakery & Cafe’s branding and online presence has evolved. This new site design needed to reflect their fun, colorful, geometric and quirky branding that customers now associate with the bakery.
Properly highlighting all of their delicious treats available was also a priority. Especially important was highlighting Heritage’s Instagram, which is their preferred platform for their daily menu and announcements.
Previous Site
Their previous site design had minimal colors and gave off more off a sophisticated vibe. It also did not showcase the most important information in a clear and easy way.
New Site
Their new site is dressed in colors and a cozy vibe, and showcases their new logo and fonts. This also puts the most important information front and center.
Simplicity at its Core.
This client’s previous site was built in a complex content management system that made it hard for them to make small changes and updates. During the redesign process we migrated the site to a new, user-friendly system that enables the client to make updates easily and quickly. This allows them to post recipes to the site and connect even further to the community.
The client also requested that the site be simple and easy-to-use for the wide variety of their customer base. We streamlined the navigation bar, incorporated informational hierarchy, and featured anchor links on each page to highlight that page’s content and take the user directly to the section they’re looking for.
